Buying Guide: Engine Electronics & Sensors

Standard vs. Blue Streak®
The standard "Red Box" line provides exact OEM-equivalent performance. However, if a specific factory part is notorious for failing prematurely, look for the Standard Blue Streak line. Blue Streak parts are heavily re-engineered to be physically superior to the original factory design—featuring thicker copper windings in coils or upgraded circuitry in modules—ensuring the problem is solved permanently.

Ignition Coils & Sensors
Modern engines run on incredibly tight tolerances. A cheap, generic camshaft sensor or ignition coil will often cause the vehicle's computer to throw a code immediately. Standard parts undergo intense thermal shock, vibration, and salt-spray testing to guarantee they provide the exact voltage signals your ECM demands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Standard Motor Products parts made in the USA?
Standard Motor Products is an American company headquartered in New York, and they manufacture a massive percentage of their components in their multiple advanced engineering and manufacturing facilities across North America.

Should I replace all my ignition coils at the same time?
If one ignition coil fails on a high-mileage vehicle, the others are likely nearing the end of their lifespan as well. While you can replace just the single bad coil, replacing all the coils (and the spark plugs) simultaneously with Standard components is the best way to ensure smooth, misfire-free engine performance and save on future labor costs.
