Motorcraft YH2003 Blower Motor Control

This control unit undergoes extensive testing to ensure durability and function. Numerous real-world and laboratory tests are conducted on each design. Each resistor must pass a life cycle test that simulates 10-year / 150,000-miles of use for passenger cars and light trucks.

Lab testing is conducted prior to any in-vehicle system tests and includes:

• High and low temperature operation tests to validate performance at temperature extremes.
• Thermal cycle testing that verifies performance in changing temperature conditions.
• Test exposure to different environmental conditions including shocks and vibrations, high humidity, water spray, dust and salt spray ensures unit functionality across a variety of conditions.

Units are also tested to ensure that there is no electromagnetic interference with other vehicle systems.

Blower motor control resistors restrict the voltage that goes to the blower motor, thus providing different fan speeds. Control resistor assemblies are manufactured of premium-quality materials to strict Ford Engineering standards. They use the same components as in O.E. parts. The application-specific design ensures proper fit and easy installation. Mounting holes are positioned to facilitate installation. Foam gaskets (where applicable) help minimize environmental contamination. Large heat-sinks help keep electrical components cool for a long life. O.E. connections provide for a simple plug-in to the wiring harness.
